1) Troubleshooting Baseline (before anything else)

• Create a separate Claude project for OpenClaw ops/debugging. Add Context7 OpenClaw docs context there. Or activate context7 MCP. Use this to ask questions when you get stuck.
• Install and keep available the clawddocs skill, this way, your OpenClaw instance also has docs context.

Useful terminal commands:

• openclaw gateway status
• openclaw gateway restart
• openclaw doctor (or openclaw doctor --repair if things are weird)

2) Personalization

Bootstrap files:

• AGENTS.md — defines agent behavior and configuration
• SOUL.md — the agent's personality/character instructions
• IDENTITY.md — name, theme, emoji identity info
• USER.md — info about you as the user
• TOOLS.md — tool usage notes and local environment details
• HEARTBEAT.md — instructions for heartbeat/cron tasks (only loaded if it exists)
